Which Bible translations are available?

The Good Bible currently includes KJV and WEB in English. More translations and language support are coming soon.

Is this app free?

Yes. The Good Bible is completely free with no ads and no in-app purchases.

Is my data stored locally?

Yes. All your notes, highlights, drawings, and reading progress are stored locally on your device. Nothing is sent to any server.

I found a bug. How do I report it?

How to Use The Good Bible

Reading

  • Scroll continuously through chapters with smooth infinite scrolling.
  • Switch between translations instantly from the language page.
  • Jump to any verse using the Go-to-Verse dialog — type references like "John 3:16" or "Rom 12".
  • Navigate books from the book grid with resizable panes for books, chapters, and verses.
  • Long-press a verse in reading mode to enter select mode.

Multi-Version Reading

  • Read multiple Bible translations at the same time.
  • Side-by-side layout: translations in adjacent columns with adjustable widths.
  • Stacked layout: versions displayed vertically verse-by-verse.
  • Column groups: combine stacked and side-by-side in a hybrid layout.
  • Drag and drop versions into your preferred layout on the language page.
  • Highlights, notes, and selections are scoped per translation.

Themes

  • 5 built-in themes: Light, Dark, Sepia, Night Blue, and Cream.
  • Apply any theme with one tap. Colors transition smoothly.
  • Save your current color settings as a custom theme.
  • Rename or delete any theme by swiping left.
  • Deleted built-in themes are restored when you use Restore Defaults.

Toolbar & Interaction Modes

  • Tap the floating toolbar to switch between modes: Read, Select, Highlight, Draw, and Note.
  • The toolbar can be positioned on the left or right side of the screen.
  • Each mode changes how your taps and gestures interact with the text.
  • Two-finger pan works in any mode for scrolling while drawing or highlighting.

Highlighting

  • Switch to Highlight mode, then long-press and drag over words to highlight them.
  • Choose from 12 color swatches.
  • Organize highlights into named groups with custom colors.
  • Use the eraser tool to remove highlights by dragging over them.
  • Undo and redo highlight actions from the toolbar.
  • In multi-version mode, highlights are scoped to the translation you're painting on.

Notes

  • Create rich text notes with bold, italic, underline, lists, blockquotes, headings, and more.
  • Anchor notes to specific words, verses, or verse ranges — they appear inline with the text.
  • Tap an inline note card to expand and read it. Tap the edit button to open the full editor.
  • Notes are tied to a specific translation. Set a note to "All versions" to see it across every column.
  • Organize notes with folders and search across all notes with full-text search.

Drawing & Annotations

  • Switch to Draw mode to sketch directly on Bible pages.
  • Pressure-sensitive strokes that respond to your stylus or finger pressure.
  • Choose from multiple pen colors and adjust stroke width.
  • Toggle left and right drawing margins for extra space.
  • Use lasso select to move drawings around the page.
  • Undo and redo drawing strokes.
  • Drawings are saved per chapter and persist across sessions.

Select & Copy

  • Switch to Select mode and tap verses to select them.
  • Long-press and drag to select individual words.
  • Copy selected text to clipboard with a customizable template.
  • Choose whether to include verse numbers and how they are formatted.
  • Option to place each verse on a new line when copying.
  • In multi-version mode, copied text is grouped by translation.

Reading Plans

  • Create custom reading plans with your own start and end dates.
  • Choose which books to include — the whole Bible or a specific range.
  • The app generates a daily reading schedule automatically.
  • Track your progress with a calendar view showing completed days.
  • See daily reading summaries with chapter and word counts.
  • Swipe left on plans to edit or archive them.

Search

  • Full-text search across all verses in your current translation.
  • Multi-word search matches all words (AND search).
  • Search your notes by title or content.
  • Browse topics alphabetically or search by keyword.
  • Results appear instantly as you type.

Customization

  • Customize fonts, font sizes, font weights, line height, and letter spacing.
  • Set independent font settings per language.
  • Adjust page, verse, menu, and title colors independently, or apply a theme.
  • Configure margins (uniform or per-side).
  • Customize verse number appearance: size, color, and vertical offset.
  • Rename books with custom display names.
  • Assign custom colors to books in the book grid.
  • Live preview pane shows changes as you adjust settings.
  • Restore all settings to defaults at any time.

Navigation History

  • Your reading history is tracked automatically with timestamps.
  • Jump back to any previously visited location.
  • Your last reading position is saved and restored when you reopen the app.

Privacy Policy

The Good Bible is a Bible reading application designed to work entirely offline. Your privacy is important to us, and we have built the app with that principle in mind.

Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The app does not require an account, does not use analytics services, and does not include any third-party tracking or advertising SDKs.

Data Stored on Your Device

All app data is stored locally on your device and never leaves it. This includes:

Internet Access

The app does not require an internet connection to function. No data is sent to or received from any server during normal use.

Third-Party Services

The app does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, crash reporters, or advertising networks.

The app does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
